WHY WE BUILT PLC Prior to creating PIT LANE CLOTHING, over a 25 year professional career Atley became one of the world’s leading sports photographers and a multi-award winner. Working extensively at the highest levels of international sport, for the world’s leading daily news agencies, he covered events such as: The Olympic Games, World Cup Soccer, World Cup Rugby, Grand Slam tennis, President’s Cup golf, Ashes cricket and spent years covering high level motorsport - everything from Moto GP to INDYCAR. At the pinnacle, he spent 2 years working on the world’s Formula 1 circuit, based from London, shooting directly for F1 teams. With PIT LANE CLOTHING, Atley discovered that alot of motorsport apparel was either team or driver merchandise and also heavily clichéd. It was loud, predictable and built around chequered flags and slogans, rather than the values he felt made racing unique. PIT LANE CLOTHING was founded by a competitive Porsche race car driver, Jack Atley, in 2020. To him, racing was about discipline, preparation, resilience, ambition and the pursuit of continual improvement. So he set out to create something different. A premium streetwear brand which captured the true ‘Spirit of Racing’. His aim was to let anyone who has ‘the racer’s spirit’ to feel equally at home anywhere - trackside, in the city, at the gym or even on a Saturday morning supporting their own child's sporting game. That was back in 2020. As a national level race car driver himself, he also mandated a rule that the items should be tested in the heat of competition. PIT LANE CLOTHING authentically tests its range of items using real competitive race car drivers. If an item fails at the track, we don’t sell it. The result is clothing that feels earnt and authentic, relating directly back to the brand’s core principles. Yet, the brand is not built around a single race car or driver. PIT LANE CLOTHING uses machines and ink from the company Brother in our range, which are non-hazardous, toxin-free, biodegradable, and certified with an ECO PASSPORT by OEKO-TEX®. We also have a series of products made of EcoCosy® fibres. EcoCosy® obtains certification from the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) confirming all products are 100% biobased.
