PIT LANE CLOTHING sponsored athlete Honda Type R TCR Australia driver Michael Clemente has produced far and away his best weekend of the season with a string of Top 10 finishes, a fight for the race 2 lead and haul of valuable points, during Round 5 of the 2022 Supercheap Auto TCR Australia series at Queensland Raceway.
Clemente and the team dug deep to produce a Qualifying result of 14th for Race 1, but once undwerway, the Victorian based driver stormed through the field to claim 7th spot overall - up a remarkable 7 spots in the national field - and ensuring a Top 3 starting spot for Race 2 on Sunday.
With the late non starting of Lachlan Mineef, Clemente found himself on the front of the grid, alongside highly rated Supercars drivers Will Brown and Michael Caruso, yet he was not intimated and dived into Turn 1, neck and neck in a fight for the lead.
Temperatures and tyre pressures would see him slip, but an 8th place finish won him many fans.
Race 3 produced another see saw battle - at one stage Clemente being thrown wide and into the dirt at near on 200kmhr - but he again showed courage and skill to bring the Honda home in the Top 9.
