Official Pit Lane Clothing Race Team Audi R8 LMS and Porsche GT3 drivers Andy Tudor and Tim Wolfe have produced a stunning weekend of results at the ‘PIARC August Access Event’ at the Phillip Island Grand Prix Circuit as part of the Victorian Production Sports Championship.
With a front row start, fastest laps and a string of podiums for both drivers in the 4 races across the weekend, the pair went head to head with multiple champion Andy Hall, narrowly missing victory.
In the 16 car fields of predominantly GT3 Cup Cars, Tudor claimed second spot and his first front row start of the series during Race 2 and followed that with the fastest lap of the race in Race 3 (1:33.7209) where he again claimed a podium third place.
Wolfe, having initially qualified 3rd, claimed third place in Race 2, grabbed another podium third place in Race 3 and then mounted his own challenge for the remaining spot on the podium in Race 4, narrowly missing that to Tudor - the pair finishing 3rd and 4th respectively.
After the hugely successful weekend, both drivers expressed how happy they were.
Tudor said, ‘it is a fantastic result for us and for the team. We have worked really hard for this and we feel we now have the car in a place where we like it.
We pushed all weekend, there was no let up, but the Audi R8 LMS performed flawlessly and it just came together.
To grab a front row start and get the fastest lap amongst a really strong field is satisfying and it now places us in great position for the remaining races throughout the year.’
Wolfe added, ‘yep, a very pleasing result from the Island. We tried a number of different tyre strategies over the weekend, kept the head down and the results came.
We now know we have the pace to be at the front and we can't wait for the remaining races. Overall, a pretty great weekend’.
